Lares Research, a manufacturer of high-quality Nd:YAG lasers, has announced that the Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD) has granted Lares Research the status of "Standard Proficiency Dental Laser Course Recognized Provider." The Lares Nd:YAG laser course consists of a CD-ROM-based training program, which is self-paced and can be completed in the office or at home, followed by an in-office clinical proficiency simulation examination. Participants must also successfully complete a written test in order to receive the Certificate of Completion that shows they have completed a Standard Proficiency Dental Laser Continuing Education Course according to the Curriculum Guidelines and Standards for Dental Laser Education using the Nd:YAG Laser. Participants earn 7 CE credits in addition to the certificate. The Lares laser course is the first program with a distance-learning component to be recognized by the ALD.
Lares Research manufactures PocketProtm Lasers and trains on and assists in the integration of Laser SoftCaretm, a technique for treating intraoral soft tissue by removing the diseased epithelial lining (sulcular debridement) and coagulation using a pulsed free-running Nd:YAG laser. It is used in conjunction with subgingival scaling to improve clinical indices including gingival index, gingival bleeding index, probe depth, attachment loss, and tooth mobility.
Lares Research manufactures Nd:YAG lasers, high-speed and low-speed handpieces, air abrasion products, and the AquaSept Heat Sterilizable Independent Water Delivery System. For more information on Lares Research products or laser courses, call 800-347-3289, Ext. 1, or visit www.laresdental.com.
