ST. PAUL, Minnesota--As esthetic dentistry and minimally invasive treatments become more popular with both dentists and patients, a curing light that offers special tools for these purposes has an important place in the dental office.

3M ESPE helps meet this need with introduction of an accessory for its Elipar S10 LED Curing Light. A 3 mm light guide gives dentists the ability to efficiently polymerize materials in confined areas. This is a useful feature for tack curing of veneers or curing of small or minimally invasive restorations less than or equal to 2 mm in diameter.

The 3 mm light guide delivers consistently high and focused light output with an intensity that is comparable to the standard light guide. Additionally, its simple magnetic attachment makes for quick and easy removal of the light guide.

The new accessory, which has been designed for efficiency and ease of use, brings new flexibility to the Elipar S10 LED curing light. Using a 10 mm light guide, even at a distance of seven millimeters, the stainless steel Elipar S10 LED curing light offers up to three times more intensity than comparable devices.

The device offers five-, 10-, 15-, 20- and 120-second cure modes, and a tack-cure mode. Its high-performance lithium-ion battery provides up to 360, 10-second cures. Additionally, it offers a nearly unbreakable stain-resistant exterior without seams or vents in which liquid could seep.

The curing light has been recognized by the international design community with a Red Dot Design Award. The Red Dot contest receivesmore than 12,000 submissions annually from more than 60 countries. As a 2010 winner in the product design category, the Elipar S10 LED curing light earned a place in the Red Dot Design Museum in Germany.
