So how was your Thanksgiving? Mine was filled with family, food, and football. It seems like life has been so hectic as of late that it was nice to slow down for a day, sit around, and take a deep breath and relax. Of course, the turkey-induced nap didn’t hurt either.

This is truly a season of thanks, and I am often reminded of how many of you said that “thank you” was the nicest thing that a dentist ever said to you. It’s still an amazing thing to me the power that those two words can hold. I read a recent study in a Harvard University newsletter that talked about the psychological power of those two words, both on the person who says it and the person who hears it. Speaking of giving thanks, I am thankful for each of you who have filled out our annual salary survey thus far. As of the moment I am writing this editor’s note, 161 of you have taken the time to answer the survey, and I appreciate that. However, I know there are more of you who have an opinion on the current and future states of your profession. Will you please take a moment now and fill out the salary survey by clicking here? It should take less than three minutes of your time. I really appreciate the help.

As you read this, I’m in New York attending the Greater New York Dental Meeting. It’s a great time of year to be in the Big Apple, and this is truly a great dental meeting that I look forward to every year. I’ll have a report from New York on the DAD Facebook page (you already like us, right?), so check it out.

Here’s hoping your week (and your holiday season) is off to a good start.
