Dr. Richard Nagelberg's blog

Blogger on Dentistry IQ asks for your opinion about a case with a surprising presence of gingivitis.

Dentistry IQ blogger Dr. Richard Nagelberg writes, "[the patient] had localized gingivitis, including areas that bled very easily upon probing, were red, tender and swollen. This is another patient with meticulous home care, again using the Sonicare and Listerine twice daily and flosses every day. She had a baby 5 months ago, is not nursing and is back on oral contraceptives. Given her very high level of home care, and diet that is not unusual in any regard, and the fact that she never misses her 3 month maintenance appointments, we should not be seeing this level of gingivitis."
