SafeGuard Health Enterprises, Inc., one of the nation's oldest and premier managed dental care companies, today announced implementation of electronic claim submission software. The "e-claims" submission process is simple and efficient and, in most instances, dentists are able to utilize their existing practice management system to submit claims.
SafeGuard has entered into an agreement with Claims Processing Service, Inc. (CPS) to act as the clearinghouse for electronically submitted claims. CPS is set up to receive claims directly from many of the leading dental practice management software programs currently in use.
James E. Buncher, SafeGuard's president and chief executive officer, said, "Implementation of this enhancement is yet another milestone in the Company's steps toward becoming an e-commerce-driven company. With the increasing number of dentists automating their offices, we think it's important to interact with them electronically to facilitate faster and more efficient claims processing."
SafeGuard also announced it was recently chosen by Travis County, Texas, to provide dental benefits to its employees effective October 1, 2002. In commenting on the new contract, Stephen J. Baker, SafeGuard's executive vice president and chief operating officer added, "We are very excited to begin working with this new large client based in Austin, Texas. Through implementation of a triple option dental product provided by SafeGuard, the County will be able to offer a variety of dental benefit choices to its employees."
SafeGuard provides dental benefit plans with HMO and PPO/Indemnity plan designs, vision benefit plans, administrative services, and preferred provider organization services. The Company serves approximately 600,000 members, primarily in California, Florida and Texas.
