The publication of a recent study stated, “Flowable resin composites ranged in radiopacity from dentin equivalence to greater than that of enamel, making the product selection an important consideration for achieving adequate diagnostic contrast.”
The investigators studied samples of six brands of flowable resin-based composite and compared them to one another and to enamel and dentin ... listed below from most to least radiopaque:
- Clearfil Majesty Flow
- Tetric N Flow
- Enamel radiopacity
- Filtek Supreme XT Flow
- Esthet X Flow
- Estelite Flow Q
- Dentin radiopacity
- Gradia Direct LoFlo

Dr. Gordon Christensen comments: As you know, radiolucent flowable resembles caries. Favor the more radiopaque ones.
