Current research: unique new endo system improves cleaning and shaping of canals

Oct. 24, 2011
Dr. Gordon Christensen discusses a new endodontic system that is gaining positive research and clinical acceptance worldwide. He says this concept is one of the major changes in endodontics in recent times.

New “adaptive cleaning, shaping, and simultaneous disinfection” endodontic system is gaining positive research and clinical acceptance worldwide. The SAF endodontic system conforms to the natural shape of endodontic canals, expanding and shrinking in direct relation to the anatomy of the canals. It provides simultaneous irrigation. The SAF is a hollow file designed to be an elastically compressible, thin-walled, pointed cylinder. It is a very thin nickel-titanium lattice. When inserted into canals, it conforms to the canal shape and size and cleans it better than conventional files.

Dr. Gordon Christensen comments: This concept is one of the only major changes in endodontics in recent times. It should provide better endodontic success because of the proven better cleansing and debridement of canals.
