TAMPA, Florida--What started as a single nontraditional Valentines Day event near Tampa at Monticciolo Sedation and Family Dentistry has now evolved into a fast-growing free dental care program.

On the 10th anniversary of its first charity event, Dentistry From The Heart will celebrate providing free dental care for more than 50,000 people. This has resulted in millions of dollars in donated dental care.

In 2007, DFTH founder, Dr. Vincent Monticciolo, transitioned his free dental care program into a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting a charitable event model. As it has grown during the past three years, more than 250 dental practice have sponsored annual Dentistry From The Heart events for their respective communities.

On Feb. 11, 2011, Dentistry From The Heart will celebrate its 10th anniversary by providing free dental care to more than 500 people in New Port Richey, Fla. Also in February 2011, 22 other Dentistry From The Heart events will take place throughout North America to mark this milestone. Several hundred other events throughout 2011 will commemorate Dentistry From The Heart’s 10th anniversary.

“People who don’t have insurance or can’t afford dental work don’t have many low cost or free care options available to them,” said Dr. Monticciolo. “Our passion is to work with dental practices across North America in encouraging them to volunteer their time and give back to their communities by hosting a Dentistry From The Heart event.”

Media are invited to attend DFTH’s event Feb.11 as Dr. Monticciolo and his team will work around the clock to provide free fillings, cleanings, and extractions. The line will begin forming 24 hours in advance with free services starting at 7:30 a.m. at Monticciolo Sedation and Family Dentistry in New Port Richey.
