Stuart J. Froum, DDS, was installed as vice president of the American Academy of Periodontology Board of Trustees at its 2011 annual meeting.
CHICAGO, Illinois--Stuart J. Froum, DDS, of New York, N.Y., was installed as vice president of the American Academy of Periodontology Board of Trustees during its 97th annual meeting Nov. 12-15, 2011, in Miami Beach, Fla.In addition to maintaining a private periodontal practice in Manhattan, Dr. Froum is a clinical professor of periodontics and implant dentistry and the director of clinical research in the Department of Periodontics and Implant Dentistry at New York University Dental Center. He is also a clinical assistant professor in periodontics at the Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine.Impact of dental hygiene abroad continues to increaseA member of the AAP since 1971, Dr. Froum has previously been active in many committees, including the Continuing Education Oversight Committee. He has also served on the Board of Trustees since 2005. Dr. Froum has been a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology since 2004. He is the editor and a contributing author of the book Dental Implant Complications: Etiology, Prevention and Treatment published in 2010.“This past year, Dr. Froum has been a valuable member of the AAP Board of Trustees, serving as secretary-treasurer,” said Pamela McClain, DDS, 2012 AAP President. "As he takes on this new position of vice president, I’m sure that he will continue to help guide both the AAP and periodontal profession toward the future."
