CINCINNATI, Ohio--Afinia Dental dentists and team members helped 159 local individuals improve their dental health in a free dental services event.

Once per year, on the day before Thanksgiving, dentists, their teams, and some family members donate time to deliver free dentistry to the community.

One-third of Americans are living without dental insurance and 75% of third-world countries do not have funds essential to support dental services. Each year, local community members line up at the free dentistry event early in the morning to guarantee receipt of a free exam, cleaning, X-ray, filling, or extraction.

“Without the generous donations of many new local businesses and many of the same community partners that helped us last year, this event would not be possible,” said Lori Martinello, supervising manager of Afinia Dental. “Every effort counts, and we are grateful to each of our growing number of partners.”

AAE leadership supports dental advocacy

Partners included Lincoln College of Technology, which bussed student dental assistants, massage therapists, and medical techs who assisted in the day’s effort along side the Afinia Dental teams. Donations from Everything Bagels, Caribou Coffee, Kroger, Chick-Fil-A, and Starbucks helped provide comfort for the patients as they waited in the cold for several hours to be treated. Benco Dental has contributed dental supplies to the event since the initial “Afinia Cares Day” three years ago. Other help came from Mitch Dental Labs and Drs. Cassinelli and Shanker.

“I am simply blown away at the passion exhibited by those that helped during the event,” said Andrew Killgore, founder and president of Afinia Dental. “Watching our dentists, team members and their families pour every effort to support these patients was very moving! It complements the spirit of Thanksgiving perfectly.”
