PeriOptix micro optics

Sept. 13, 2011
Launch to take place at the 2011 California Dental Association meeting.

SAN CLEMENTE, California--PeriOptix, a provider of magnification and illumination systems for medical and dental professionals, plans to debut a new micro optics lens technology.

The lauch is scheduled for Sept. 22-24, 2011, at the California Dental Association meeting in San Francisco, Calif.

PeriOptix will showcase the new MicroLine Flip-Ups, along with a new generation through-the-lens loupes and mini LED headlight. PeriOptix new MicroLine loupes feature a new lens design that is less than one-third the size of conventional optics, yet delivers performance equivalent to loupes weighing much more.

“The No. 1 complaint we hear constantly from hygienists and dentists is that loupes are too heavy,” stated Keith Tholin, president and founder of PeriOptix.

“Our MicroLine loupes are a game-changer. When we combine our new micro optics with our exclusive Adidas sports frame, the result is a loupe experience that is beyond compare in the industry. Importantly, we are able to bring these to the market at a price point that is below that of heavier, bulkier loupes with inferior optics.”

The PeriOptix MicroLine loupes can be combined with the MicroLine mini LED, which weighs only 6.9 grams yet produces 40,000 lux of illumination.

“The MicroLine loupe, coupled with our new MicroLine mini headlight, is a package that no other company can come close to matching in size, performance, or price,” Tholin said. “We expect to shake up the market with our new MicroLine series.”

The new MicroLine flip up loupes feature a designed hinge and a maximized field of vision for unobstructed, over-the-top visibility. The patented Optilock technology automatically and securely locks in the user’s personal settings.

Once the loupes are set to their proper alignment, the optics do not move out of place. That, coupled with the double- hinge design, allows optics to smoothly return to the same position. Also, the steep declination angle provided by the Optilock design can help eliminate neck, back and eye strain—a common problem encountered by dentists and hygienists due to their working environment.

Attendees at the 2011 CDA will have the opportunity to use PeriOptix dental loupes and headlights in a simulated dental operatory within the company's booth. This opportunity offers prospective customers the ability to try various magnification levels and working distances.

“The CDA show is a great venue for us to reach the dentists and hygienists across the country to showcase our innovative loupes and portable headlight systems,” Tholin said. “We are looking forward to introducing dentists and hygienists to our completely redesigned flip up loupe system.”
