ADA set to open

LAS VEGAS, Nevada--More than 28,000 attendees from 79 different countries are slated to arrive here Oct. 10-13, 2011, to attend the American Dental Association’s 152nd Annual Session and World Marketplace Exhibition at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.

The ADA Annual Session brings together leaders in dental practice, research, academia and industry to present hundreds of continuing education courses during four days. In addition, the session will feature more than 500 exhibiting companies.

The ADA Annual Session is one of the largest dental trade shows in the U.S. and was the 11th largest domestic medical meeting in 2010, according to the Healthcare Convention and Exhibitors Association.

Opening general session features former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, PhD
The ADA kicks off its annual session at 8 a.m. Oct. 10, 2011, with former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, PhD, as the 2011 Distinguished Speaker. Dr. Rice serves as a member of the board of trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and is the author of “Extraordinary, Ordinary People: A Memoir of Family,” which shares how her upbringing in segregated Birmingham, Ala.--along with her strong, caring family--helped shape the course of her life. The Distinguished Speaker Series is free to everyone registered for the annual session. Official badges are required for entry into session events, including the Distinguished Speaker Series.

More than 260 Continuing Education Courses Available
The ADA Annual Session offers attendees the choice of more than 260 topical continuing education courses such as pain control, dental sleep medicine, esthetic dental procedures, forensics, geriatric dentistry and oral systemic health, with more than 50% of CE seats free with registration. More than 70 hands-on workshops will also be offered.

ADA Annual Session expected to generate approximately $12 million to Las Vegas economy

Attendees can also choose from learning opportunities such as live-patient courses in the “Education in the Round” learning format, and a variety of high-tech courses in the ADA’s “LOC” (Learn, Optimize, and Connect), featuring hands-on laser education and live-patient CAD/CAM demonstrations.

Exhibit hall features products from 500 companies
The World Marketplace Exhibition, open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m Oct. 10-12, offers attendees the opportunity to view and compare the latest dental products and services from more than 500 exhibiting companies.

New this year: experience ADA’s Annual Session Live, virtually or with ADA365
Through the new ADA365, the virtual extension of the annual session, ADA member dentists and others can gain free virtual access to a variety of events, programs, and activities offered at the meeting in Las Vegas.
The virtual meeting will stream live, starting at 8 a.m. Oct. 10 with the opening general session.

ADA member dentists will enjoy special access to a variety of events, including a live stream of the Distinguished Speaker Series presentation by Dr. Rice, the six live-patient “Education in the Round” courses, and the open clinical and science forums. Portions of the virtual meeting will also be open to nonmember dentists, dental team members, exhibitors, and others.
