The announcement was made at the 146th annual Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting at Chicago’s McCormick Place.
The Intelligent Positioning System helps ensure accurate sensor placement during patient examinations by visually aiding alignment of the sensor with an intuitive, real-time display. Once the generator’s X-ray beam is correctly aligned with the sensor, the IPS automatically notifies the user.
“The KODAK RVG 6500 system provides a higher level of patient care with its Intelligent Positioning System, which ultimately helps practitioners avoid common positioning mistakes and reduces the risk of retakes that can lead to greater patient radiation exposure,” said Patrik Eriksson, president and CEO, Carestream Dental.
The RVG 6500 system is also Wi-Fi, enabling the user to move freely about his or her practice without cumbersome cords. The design allows the user to adapt the system to a variety of practice configurations, accommodating multi-sensor and multi-computer environments. This gives members of the care team imaging flexibility whether they work in a single- or a multi-chair practice.
Delivering an intraoral sensor resolution of > 20 line pairs/mm, the RVG 6500 sensor offers the same image quality as wired KODAK RVG 6100 sensors. The RVG 6500 system’s Wi-Fi capability enables the user to view and share acquired images on an Apple iPad, helping to foste better patient communication.
“The RVG 6500 system’s ability to share images on an iPad and let patients hold them up close is revolutionizing communication, helping practitioners educate their patients and ultimately make decisions about their treatment plans and overall oral health,” Eriksson said.
