The waterline cleaning system with an approved organic irrigant and a registered anti-microbial cleaner helps assure that dental unit waterlines have less than 500 colony-forming units of microorganisms per milliliter, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control.
The independent study confirmed that Team Vista works without damaging dental bonding agents, even after 534 uses. The bond study is posted on The Dental Advisor Web site, and reprints are available through Hu-Friedy (Ordering code IMS-994).
Dr. John Molinari, director of infection control for The Dental Advisor in Ann Arbor, Mich., said: “It is important to properly treat your dental unit waterlines as a component of a total infection control program. Team Vista is an easy, effective system to both periodically clean and maintain dental unit waterlines.”
The Team Vista system includes two products that address daily and periodic cleaning of the dental unit waterlines. VistaClean, derived from organic citrus botanicals, is an FDA-approved irrigant solution concentrate used each time a water bottle is refilled.
VistaClean is designed to protect waterlines and dental equipment from deposits and scale by emulsifying built-up contaminants. VistaTab is a registered dental waterline cleaner tablet for periodic cleaning and control of waterline contaminants. The tablet quickly dissolves when placed in water to create a noncorrosive solution that is seven times more effective than bleach.
Commenting on the significance of the rating, Hu-Friedy CEO Ron Saslow stated: “The presence of contaminants in dental waterlines is a real concern and practicing effective infection control methods is a critical component to a high-performing practice. The Team Vista system adheres to the high standards announced by the CDC and is accepted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, which will benefit dental professionals and their patients.”
