Elipar S10 Curing Light recognized

ST. PAUL, Minnesota--The 3M ESPE Elipar S10 LED Curing Light has received the award of Editor’s Choice by THE DENTAL ADVISOR. The unit was identified as the most significant product evaluated in the July/August 2010 issue. With its combination of properties, the light curing device made of stainless steel convinced consultants who tested it to give it the highest rating possible—five plusses.The Elipar S10 is a curing unit that has a smart design combined with advanced technology. Thanks to the interplay between form and function, the device has been among the winners of the 2010 Red Dot Design Award--an international design competition.Tested in 1,255 cases, the evaluators were particularly impressed by the cordless device's ease of use, durability, stability in the docking station and its cleanability. The latter feature is facilitated by the unit’s smooth, one-piece, stainless-steel exterior that includes sealed buttons. According to the consultants, these are sensitive and can be activated by a light touch. Via these buttons, the user can simply put the device into operation, select preset cure times of five, 10, 15, 20 and 120 seconds, or opt for a tack-cure mode to remove excess cement. Since the light guide of Elipar S10 rotates freely, access to areas of the mouth is afforded. High optical power is achieved by a light intensity of 1,200 mW/cm2 and a special design that leads to a more focused light output. Overall, the Elipar S10 received a 97% clinical rating. Eighty-three percent of consultants assessed the performance of the 3M ESPE curing device as being better than that of the curing light currently being used in their practices, and that they would switch.
