Team promotions, hires announced

Staff committed to providing effective service to Academy of General Dentistry's more than 35,000 members.

The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) has announced staffing promotions as well as additions designed to enhance the quality of effective and efficient services AGD provides to more than 35,000 members.

"We are excited to have these individuals join our team and bring their
knowledge and experience to help further the work of our organization to
advance the value and excellence in general dentistry," said Jay Donohue
Jr., CAE, CMP and AGD's executive director.

"In addition, we are always pleased when we can reward staff members for
their hard work and acknowledge their contributions to the AGD," said
Donohue.

"They, along with our newest team members, will help us continue to enhance the services we provide to our members and to strengthen our position in the organized dentistry marketplace."

Joe Dingee, Director, Strategic Marketing & Product Development: Dingee was recently promoted to serve as the Director of Strategic Marketing and Product Development. He will be responsible for the AGD's ongoing
organizational market research initiative (OMRI), creation of a knowledge
base from research findings, establishment of a process for sharing
knowledge with AGD leaders and staff, and the development, implementation and measurement of an integrated marketing plan based on research findings and market intelligence.

Susan Urbanczyk, Director, Public Relations
Urbanczyk was recently promoted to Director of Public Relations. In this
position, she will be responsible for creating and evaluating the
organization's strategic public relations, publicity and promotion activities and resources in support of the organization objectives, including an emphasis on public and media image strategies and programs that
demonstrate measurable results and support AGD's priorities.

Carla DeFlorio, CAE, Director, Constituent Services
AGD hired DeFlorio to serve as Director of Constituent Services to manage
all aspects of constituent services, programs and communications. She will
be in charge of facilitating a strong relationship between AGD's
headquarters office and its 63 constituents.

DeFlorio was previously employed by the American Society of Safety Engineers and is a regular speaker on chapter relations and generational diversity issues for the Association Forum of Chicagoland and the American Society of Association Executives.

Hung Hoang, Web Development Application Specialist
Hoang has joined AGD as the Web Development Application Specialist. He comes to with a wide range of application development skills. His previous
experience includes serving as the Webmaster for a New Orleans Consulting
company where he developed website applications for the company and clients.

In his new role, Hoang will assist the Web Development Administrator in
development and maintenance of AGD's Web site.

Catherine McNamara, Executive Editor
New Executive Editor McNamara comes to AGD with more than 10 years
experience in the editing field. Her previous experience includes serving
as Managing Editor of Marie Claire magazine (a Hearst Publication) and
working for a company that developed newsletters and communications in the health-care field.

McNamara will be responsible for external organizational communications with members and the dental profession in support of organizational goals,
including AGD publications General Dentistry and AGD Impact as well as a
variety of other print and electronic communications.

David Mendoza, Member Services Representative/CE Specialist
AGD hired Mendoza to serve as the a Member Services Representative/CE
Specialist to provide comprehensive quality customer services to current and
prospective members, administrative support, quality clerical and data entry
support and frontline assistance for all AGD related inquiries and requests.

Mendoza comes to the AGD from the American Massage Therapy Association where he served as a Call Center Representative, answering phones, and entering CE.

Barbara Reed, Director, Development & Relationship Management
Reed joined the AGD as the new Director of Development and Relationship
Management. She comes to the AGD from Alfred University where she served as the Associate Director of Alumni and Community Relations. In addition, Reed has 15 years of corporate sales experience in a variety of industries; including motivation and customer loyalty programs.

Reed will manage, develop and nurture relationships with organizations and
companies inside and outside of dentistry that support the mission and goals
of the AGD and the AGD Foundation.

Mia Short, CMP, Director, Meeting Services
Short has joined the AGD as Director of Meeting Services. Prior to joining
AGD, Short was Director of Meeting Services for the American Dietetic
Association and prior to that she was responsible for the American Bar
Association exhibits.

In her new role, Short will manage the meeting planning functions of the AGD headquarters office and will be responsible for planning, organizing,
marketing and coordinating the AGD's Annual Meeting & Exposition.

Deborah Thurmond, Member Services Representative/CE Specialist
AGD hired Thurmond to serve as a Member Services Representative/CE
Specialist to work with dues billings and database management. To her new
position, she also brings extensive experience working with iMIS, AGD's
association management software.

Prior to AGD, Thurmond was with the American Planning Association for 17
years working in the membership department.
