First postgraduate residents welcomed to Boston University Institute for Dental Research and Education Dubai

Institute's first class comprises 14 residents who will train in endodontics, orthodontics, prosthodontics, periodontics, and pediatric dentistry.

DUBAI--Boston University Institute of Dental Research and Education Dubai welcomed its inaugural class of residents July 1 Dubai.

Boston University Institute for Dental Research and Education Dubai is the first institution to offer postgraduate dental education in the region. Boston University Executive Vice President Joseph Mercurio and Dean ad interim Jeffrey Hutter of BU's Goldman School of Dental Medicine, as well as Khalid Malik, CEO of Tatweer, Dr. Muhadditha Al Hashimi, Deputy CEO of Tatweer, and Dr. Ayesha Adbulla, senior vice president of Dubai Healthcare City, attended the ceremony.

The Institute's first class is comprised of 14 residents who will train in a variety of dental specialties, including endodontics, orthodontics, prosthodontics, periodontics, and pediatric dentistry.

The training programs will be overseen by faculty of the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine. The Institute received accreditation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the United Arab Emirates in June.

Dubai Healthcare City is a medical free zone within the Emirate of Dubai in the UAE. Dubai Healthcare City has been developed with the goal of becoming a world-class academic medical community which will be developed around institutions such as the Boston University Institute for Dental Research and Education and a major university hospital.

The campus will also contain a wellness center offering integrative medicine, private clinics and branches of several international medical and pharmaceutical corporations that will be available in the medical community.

BUIDRE Dubai Chief Academic Officer Dr. Thomas Kilgore also welcomed the incoming residents.
