GREENVILLE, Ind.--The American Association of Dental Consultants, a professional association of dentists involved in the dental benefits industry, has announced its 2008-09 slate of officers at its annual Spring Workshop in May.
President: George M. Koumaras, DDS, Dental Director, Delta Dental of Virginia, Roanoke, Va.
President-Elect: Michael Weitzner, DMD, MS, CDC, VP, Clinical Product Development, United Healthcare, Rockville, Md.
Secretary-Treasurer: Lawrence M. Hoffman, DMD, CDC, Dental Consultant, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Missouri, St Louis, Mo.
New Board of Directors members are: Rod Coburn, DDS, FAGD, CDC; Frank A. Klump, DMD, FAGD; and Fred C. Quarnstrom, DDS, FASDA, FAGD, FICD, FACC, CDC, FACD.
The affiliate liaison is Tom Limoli, Jr. Limoli is the prevailing expert on proper coding and administration of dental insurance benefit claims. He serves as president of Limoli and Associates/Atlanta Dental Consultants, Inc. Limoli received his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Valdosta State University.
Following his work with the U.S. Treasury Department's Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, he actively investigated fraudulent claims for the insurance industry, as well as numerous other third-party fiduciaries. He is a licensed private investigator and a member of the National Health Care Anti-Fraud Association, the American Association of Dental Consultants, the National Speakers Association, and the past president of the Academy of Dental Management Consultants.
Limoli is the editor of Dental Insurance Today, the author of Dental Insurance and Reimbursement Coding and Claim Submission, and co-author of Fee-for-Service Dentistry With a Managed-Care Component and Dental Insurance and Reimbursement Handbook Series.
Dr. Koumaras is a graduate of Temple University School of Dentistry. He holds a Certificate from Hahnemann University Hospital for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is retired from private dental practice. Dr. Koumaras is a member of the ADA, the AAOMS and the Piedmont Dental Society.
Dr. Weitzner is a graduate of Hamilton College, received his Dental degree at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine and a Master of Science in Health Services Management and Policy at The New School. He is a Certified Dental Consultant from the American Association of Dental Consultants, a Diplomate of the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians, and a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Weitzner currently serves as Vice President, Clinical Product Development at United Healthcare Dental, where he has been since 2000. He lives in Olney, Md.
Dr. Hoffman is a graduate of the Washington University School of Dental Medicine and Indiana University. He is a member of the ADA, the Missouri Dental Association, the Greater St. Louis Dental Society and is a Certified Dental Consultant. Dr. Hoffman also maintains a private practice in St. Louis, Mo.
Robert S. Laurenzano, DMD, FAGD, CDC is Immediate Past-President, AADC and Director, Utilization Review and Management, United Healthcare, Rockville, MD. Dr. Laurenzano is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. He is a member of the ADA, the Maryland State Dental Association, Southern Maryland Dental Association and is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Laurenzano is a Certified Dental Consultant. He also maintains a private practice in North Potomac, Md.
Rod H. Coburn was elected to serve a one-year term on the board. He is the Dental Director for Administrative Solutions, Inc., Fresno, California. A graduate of the University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry, he is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, a Certified Dental Consultant from the American Association of Dental Consultants, and a member of the ADA. Formerly a faculty member at UCSF, he maintained a private practice for 37 years while holding positions with Equicor, CIGNA and Principal Financial Group. He lives in Fresno, Calif.
Dr. Klump is a graduate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and a Certified Dental Consultant with the American Association of Dental Consultants. He has held positions with Delta Dental Plan of New Jersey, Inc. and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Jersey/Direct Dental Network. he formed his own review company AmeriConsultants, LLC in 1998 and lives in Sparta, N.J.
Dr. Quarnstrom, is the owner of SecondOpinionDental.com, serves as a consultant to Washington Employer Trust and Zenith Administrators, and is a dentist in private practice. He holds fellowships of the Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Society of Anesthesia, International College of Dentistry and American College of Dentistry. He was awarded Diplomate status in the American Board of Dental Anesthesiology and the National Board of Dental Anesthesiology.
Dr. Quarnstrom is a certified dental consultant and has published 50 papers most on fear and pain control in dentistry. He holds faculty positions with the School of Dentistry, University of Washington; the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of British Columbia and teaches CE at Oregon Health Sciences University. He is a graduate of the University of Washington Dental School and lives in Seattle, Wash.
The American Association of Dental Consultants is a professional association for dentists and others involved in the dental benefits industry.
