ADA names managing vice president for its Health Policy Resources Center

Responsibilities include overseeing oral health research, policy analyses.

CHICAGO--The American Dental Association has announced the appointment of Wayne R. Wendling, Ph.D., as managing vice president of its Health Policy Resources Center.

Dr. Wendling's HPRC responsibilities include health-policy analyses, dental economics, national dental databases, surveys and survey analyses.

He joins the ADA, after serving as second vice president for research at Traveler's Insurance Company at Milwaukee and Hartford, Conn. At Travelers, his responsibilities included directing research on medical and health care issues.

Previously, Dr. Wendling was senior director, Research and Information Services, for International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, where he established their research strategy, generated research funding with multiple academic institutions as well as the U.S. Department of Labor, and directed their surveys of employee benefit practices and opinions.

He also served as a senior economist at the Upjohn Institute for Employment Research in Kalamazoo, Mich.

Aside from his various publications and teaching experience, Dr. Wendling's professional activities have included the Healthcare Administration Simplification Coalition, the National Association for Business Economists and the Pension Research Council at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

He earned a PhD in economics and BA in economics, both from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee.
