The good news is America loves its sweeteners. The bad news is that most aren't good for you.
Millions of Americans use artificial sweeteners like Sweet 'N Low, Splenda and Equal, in their coffee, tea, or food instead of sugar to reduce calorie intake. However, most are unaware or choose to ignore that these sweeteners contain chemicals and ingredients that some consider not very healthy.
Sweet 'N Low (Saccharin), Splenda (Sucralose), NutraSweet, Equal Canderel (Aspartame) sweeten drinks and food but also contain chemicals that some studies link to severe illnesses and cancer.
Currently launching in stores nationally, SUSTA is a sweetener in the retail marketplace that is all-natural, low-glycemic, contains prebiotics (soluble fiber) and probiotics, essential vitamins and minerals, helps to maintain healthy blood sugar levels, aids digestion, and supports the immune system.
It is ideal for individuals who want sweetness but for whom sugar is not a viable option or is an undesirable option. This might include diabetics, individuals on weight loss programs, or those proactively managing obesity.
SUSTA is currently available in packets and also in Healthy Dairy, an all-natural yogurt smoothie drink.
SUSTA contains a proprietary blend of insulin fiber, fructose, natural flavors, botanical extracts, vitamins, minerals, probiotics, and is free of synthetic or processed chemicals. It not only sweetens a drink, but also offers other health benefits.
A SUSTA packet contains only five calories with a high proportion of fiber and a very small amount of fructose (less than 0.5 g per serving). It's considered to be sweeter that two teaspoons of sugar and potentially saves about 20 calories or more while providing an extra bonus of nutrition.
"All the current sugar substitutes available in stores have questionable, at best, health implications, that's why SUSTA is a breakthrough sweetener," said Dr. Richard L. Kozlenko.
Dr. Kozlenko is consulting director of R and Quality Control at NXT Nutritionals, a developer and marketer of proprietary, patent-pending healthy alternative sweetener products, food, and beverages.
"SUSTA not only tastes great, but is low calorie and actually good for you," he added.
