EFFINGHAM, Illinois--Heartland Dental Care acquired six dental practices and opened two new dental-care facilities during first quarter 2009.
The six acquisitions include practices in Dickson, Tenn., Lexington, Ky., Las Vegas, Nev., Phoenix, Ariz., Glendale, Ariz., and New Port Richie, Fla.
The two new dental facilities opened during the first quarter include locations in Lee's Summit, Mo. and Dulles, Va.
The additions bring the total number of Heartland Dental Care practices to 238.
"We are excited to start 2009 with an additional eight dental practices," said Richard E. Workman, DMD, CEO, and president of Heartland Dental Care. "We are adding practices in markets we currently serve as well as moving into new states, and that is very exciting for us."
Dr. Vincent Monticciolo, a dentist and businessman in New Port Richie, Fla. and creator of Dentistry From The Heart, joined Heartland Dental Care during the first quarter.

Dr. Workman welcomed Dr. Monticciolo and his team to Heartland.

Also during the first quarter, Heartland developed a presence in Las Vegas and Phoenix for the first time.
