Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity held its annual convention during the last week in December of 2008 in Scottsdale, Ariz.
At the convention, Dr. Charlene Berkman of Long Island, N.Y., was installed as International President-elect and Dr. Marcy Schwartzman of Vancouver, Canada, was installed as International Secretary.
This marks the first time that a female has held a position on the administrative committee of Alpha Omega. At the end of 2009, Dr. Berkman will become the first female to hold the office of International President in the 100-plus year history of Alpha Omega.
