EATONTOWN, New Jersey--Zhermack Inc., a leading producer of impression materials for dental clinicians and high-tech solutions for dental laboratories, has introduced its Colorbite D registration material.

While most other bite registration materials on the market are only one color, Colorbite D features a new thermochromic technology that uses temperature-sensitive pigments that change color once the registration material has set.

"Colorbite D allows the dental team a visible control throughout the various stages of the impression process. The material changes color from green to yellow at 95°F when the optimal setting time of one minute in the mouth has been achieved," said Barbara Maragni, managing director of Zhermack USA. "Colorbite D then changes back to its original green color when it is removed from the mouth and returns to room temperature."

Colorbite D's color-changing characteristics help minimize the margin of error while its rigid bite registration silicone formulation possesses a hardness of over 98 Shore-A (45 Shore-D).

Features and benefits of Colorbite D include:

* New Thermochromic Technology that uses temperature-sensitive pigments to indicate optimal setting time

* Thixotropic properties allow the material to be injected onto either the upper or lower arches with no fear of dripping

* Accurate and fast 60-second setting time that is convenient for dentists and patients

* Easy to remove from the mouth without deforming

* Mousse-like consistency for easy handling

* Rigid enough to be repositioned for a fit check after setting

* Easy to finish with a cutting blade or bur

* Pleasant lime flavor
