If you work without an assistant, you know the challenges of isolating an area of the mouth for scaling and root planing or placing sealants. The DryShield isolation system offers a solution to those problems and also offers high-volume evacuation and saliva ejection, as well as a bite block.

Isolating an area of the mouth for scaling and root planing or placing sealants can often be tough for the many dental hygienists who work without dental assistants. The DryShield isolation system solves multiple problems at once, making these types of procedures easier for hygienists to perform alone and making them more comfortable for patients.

The DryShield system’s high-volume evacuation and saliva ejection keep the working area visible and dry while removing the need to wrestle with a high-volume evacuator or saliva ejector during procedures. The mouthpiece itself is well designed and provides ample suction, clearing the working field of saliva, blood, and water. The cheek and tongue retractor portions of the mouthpiece create a wide field of vision and provide sufficient working space.

It is not difficult to find a comfortable fit for any patient because DryShield mouthpieces come in four sizes: pedo, small, medium, and large. Bite blocks are available in the same sizes and can conveniently be mixed and matched to provide customized comfort. The entire system can be moved easily from operatory to operatory and does not require special equipment or hoses.

The shining feature that sets it apart from other isolation systems is that the mouthpieces are autoclavable up to 50 times. Other isolation systems require single-use disposable mouthpieces, which can be costly. DryShield mouthpieces don’t have to be wasted if the clinician has to try in multiple sizes to find the perfect fit for each patient.

The DryShield isolation system provides uniquely customizable, easily portable high-volume suction together with tongue retraction and a bite block. These features provide a wide variety of benefits in restorative dentistry, and they also make scaling and root planing and sealant placement easier for both the hygienist and the patient. Thumbs up for DryShield!
