Data Bite: 47% of dentists say this is the best thing about their job

July 15, 2017
What makes dentists happy? According to a new survey, dentists most frequently identify this as being the best part of their job.

It’s good to be the boss. That’s what nearly half of the dentists—all owners of general practices—said who took this year’s Dental Economics–Levin Group Annual Practice Survey.

Dentistry is undergoing a lot of changes, but let’s not forget it’s still one of the best jobs in the world. As a practice owner, you are afforded the opportunity to earn a comfortable income while also enjoying the autonomy of running your own business. That’s a pretty rare thing. Most people spend their lives working for somebody else.

Here are the full results of the survey question. As you can see, running the business ranked well near the bottom:

There’s something to be said for working for yourself. You call the shots, you set the hours, and you reap the rewards. Sure, it’s not without its challenges at times, but what job doesn’t have them?

Even in today’s more competitive environment, the majority of practice owners are relishing what they do––being the boss, working with their teams and making a good living!
