Would it surprise you to learn that women dentists earn less than men? Why is this happening? A seminar tonight presented by Dr. Marko Vujicic will address this issue.

Are you surprised to learn that the average male dentist earns more than the average female dentist? A study by Glassdoor released last year revealed that dentistry was one of the top 10 professions with a notable gender wage gap. Can you think of some reasons why that might be the case?

We can speculate about possible answers and maybe rule a few out. I practice with a female dentist and I can say we both charge the same fees for our services. We are reimbursed the same by third-party payers. Her schedule is as busy as mine. So, what is happening out there in other practices that is contributing to a lower average income for female dentists? Is it discrimination? Are women working more part-time hours than full-time?

Tonight, March 28th, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. CST, Dr. Marko Vujicic will host a special ADA webinar tackling this issue. He’ll present the facts and lead a panel discussion with experts to address these very questions. It is unfortunate that gender wage gaps still exist in many careers, but perhaps there is something we can do as a profession to help that change for dentistry.

Cheers,
