In an article published May 7, 2020, The New York Times reported that 65 manufacturers of faulty N95-style masks were not banned by the Food and Drug Administration until three weeks after failed test results were known. The KN95 masks were purchased and/or used by individuals in health care who were on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic.
