Editor's note: In an effort to keep you informed of products that can help dental practices during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dental Economics columnist Howard Glazer, DDS, FAGD, has authored a special multipart series. In each installment, he reviews a product that can assist you during this challenging time.
Quick-Stat Hemostatic Agents
Fluid control around preparations is essential for achieving an accurate impression and is also important when making a provisional restoration. Fluid in the sulcus can lead to inaccuracy. Vista’s Quick-Stat hemostatic agents are available in a liquid, and two gel formulations. Quick-Stat Liquid, available in a 30 mL bottle or 30 mL syringe, is 15.5% ferric sulfate and works in a matter of seconds to eliminate sulcular fluid for both impressions and cementation. Quick-Stat Gel, available in either a 1.2 mL or 30 mL syringe, is 20% ferric sulfate and also works in seconds on both hard and soft tissue. Quick-Stat Free is a 25% aluminum chloride clear gel and is non-staining, making it ideal for use in the aesthetic zone. In addition, it’s quite viscous, which means it will penetrate the tissue but not flow to adjacent areas.
These products feature a unique Stat-Flo Tip with a curved cannula so you can easily see where you are placing the material, and a padded, fuzzy applicator that allows you to gently rub the product onto cut capillaries.
Clearly, Quick-Stat is the quickest way to achieve a dry, clear field for accurate impressions and provisionals, and perfect cementation.
