Recently, the DALE Foundation launched two new Continuing Dental Education Articles (CDEA) modules. Both modules feature articles from the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
• Preventive and Restorative Guidelines for Pediatric Dentistry: This series of articles features information on clinical recommendations for the use of pit-and-fissure sealants; guidelines on when restorative procedures are necessary; recommendations concerning the use of interim therapeutic restorations (ITRs); and a policy on the use of medically necessary care. Those who complete this module will learn the preventive measures and restorative procedures available to practitioners to determine the appropriate materials, techniques and treatments for children and adolescents.
• Caries Management for Pediatric Dentistry: This module provides an introduction to current research on preventive oral health interventions for children. The series of articles features guidelines for assessment of caries risk, general principles of examination, anticipatory guidance and preventive counseling and oral treatment in pediatric dentistry. Results of studies on the use of lasers in pediatric dentistry, the relationship of mutans streptococci to caries incidence and the effects of dental fluorosis in children are also explored.
Each module contains five articles and is worth 12 CDE credits.
