Oral health is still not considered a part of total health

Jan. 24, 2011
Oral health is conspicuously missing from a 2011 CDC report on health disparities.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention just released a new report on health disparities and inequalities, CDC Health Disparities and Inequalities Report United States, 2011. The Department of Health and Human Services launched its Oral Health Initiative in 2010, which focused primarily on eliminating disparities, and then omitted oral health in CDC’s first agency report on health disparities.

Coupled with the recent news that the CDC Division of Oral Health will be reduced from a division to a branch, there is a need for some immediate advocacy.
