Oklahoma loses history-making hygienist

Dec. 8, 2011
Longtime dental hygienist Charlotte Campbell gave back to community.

When Charlotte Campbell sank her teeth into something, there was no letting go.

That was especially true of her career. A Massachusetts native who moved to Oklahoma after obtaining her dental hygienist degree, Campbell would go on to practice in Tulsa for 52 years - the longest tenure of any hygienist in state history. Most of her career was spent with Dr. Norval Smith.

Mrs. Campbell recently passed away. The author concluded his article with, "Her smile, by the way, was still in very good shape."
