Corn syrup desires a more palatable name

Sept. 20, 2010
Corn sweetener. Corn syrup. Corn sugar. It's al in a name, isn't it?

The news story at this link reports, "The Corn Refiners Association, which includes commodity processing giants such as Archer-Daniels-Midland Co. and Cargill Inc., said it filed a petition Tuesday with the Food and Drug Administration for permission to switch the name of high fructose corn syrup to 'corn sugar.'"

It's all in a name, isn't it? Is this just politically correct maneuvering, or will it hurt our fight on decay? What effects will this have on the obesity epidemic? Post your thoughts on the RDH eVillage FaceBook page by clicking here.
