The following are some workshops "highlights" that are well worth planning ahead to attend. When I say "planning," I mean register ASAP because all workshops are filling up fast.

Friday

Medical Gloves: Towards Safer and More Effective Protection, presented by Esah S. Yip, D.Sc. The effectiveness of gloves as a barrier to diseases is an important requirement for dental care and health-care professionals. Different glove materials show differences in barrier effectiveness. It is therefore critical that glove users be given all relevant information concerning the safe use of gloves, enabling educated choices about gloves to be made.

This course reviews results of comparative studies by researchers in United States on the barrier effectiveness of gloves currently available. In addition, the dramatic reductions of latex protein allergy in workplaces through the use of the new generation of low-protein latex gloves, as reported by hospital studies in the United States, Canada, and Europe are also discussed. 2 CEUs

Exploring Uncharted Waters - Using Your Diagnodent, presented by Diane Mueller, RDH and Lisa Kallis, RDH. An interesting and practical course designed to provide hands-on instruction on how to properly use the DIAGNOdent in your practice and how to integrate this new tool into everyday protocol. 2 CEUs - Fee: $10.
