Director's Message: Changing Times

Jan. 27, 2006
The director of RDH eVillage has a few trivia questions for you, and promises that eVillage will never be trivial.

Happy New Year!

Miniskirts, bell-bottom pants, and music your parents didn't like. Doesn't it seem the more things change, the more they stay the same? It's often like that in dental hygiene. The fundamentals of quality care, leadership, and integrity are recurrent in a community of constantly changing practice acts, access-to-care issues, and dental hygiene journals. Thank goodness we still have RDH Magazine. Throughout the year, RDH will be celebrating its 25th anniversary as a publication serving the dental hygiene profession. (Read Mark Hartley's comments in this issue)

As far as RDH eVillage, it will never be a "cobweb" publication. A "cobweb" newsletter or magazine is one that never, ever changes. RDH eVillage is committed to bringing readers to their next level, while celebrating the growth and innovation within the dental hygiene profession.

The following new sections have been created for 2006:

• Click-It Trivia starts this month, and there are three questions relating to the RDH Under One Roof 2006 Conference and RDH's anniversary. The January winner of RDH Click-It Trivia receives a $200 gift certificate from Tiffany's. The gift certificate is in honor of RDH magazine's 25th anniversary.

• RDH eVillage corporate eFiles will begin in the February issue. This is a new section that will provide the reader with an insider's look at many of the popular corporate companies that support dental hygiene. This will not be a stale question with prefab answers and information. They are what the RDH eVillage readers want and need to know.

• RDH eVillage Student eStories. Students are the future of our profession. And they are as diverse as the different colored and shaped shells on a sandy beach. These inspirational accounts will remind you of why you went into hygiene and also help support current students with the knowledge that they are not alone in their journey.

If you know of a student who deserves recognition or a company you want to learn more about, please e-mail me at Kristine Hodsdon.

Before I close, I have to mention New Year's resolutions. I trust by now you have committed your best intentions to pushing forward and realizing your goals -- and I hope one of your resolutions is to use the real world information contained in RDH eVillage to have your best year ever in dental hygiene. If you want to experience even more, I encourage you to make plans now for the 2006 RDH Under One Roof Conference to be held in Las Vegas. RDH Under One Roof

Thanks for clicking!
