CEREC® 3D adds a new dimension

CEREC®, from Sirona, is taking in-operatory restorative control to a new dimension with the introduction of its new operating system, CEREC 3D. The new and intuitive software allows CEREC 3 users to view, manipulate, change, and verify all aspects of the restoration design before it is milled, providing dentists with complete confidence in an ideal marginal fit.

The user-friendly CEREC 3D provides a full 360-degree perspective, putting dentists virtually in the patient's mouth, allowing them to design restorations with such accuracy that it practically eliminates the need for time-consuming and difficult adjustments after placement. The dentist can design custom-milled inlays, onlays, crowns, and veneers with complete confidence by making precise edits to all facets of the restoration down to the micron — before it's milled.

With a new automatic margin detector maximizing occlusal control and a realistic display of the restoration and prep together, three-dimensional realism makes designing the restoration easy. In addition, CEREC 3D expands on quadrant dentistry, allowing dentists to design multiple teeth while one is being produced.

With a proven track record, backed by more than 100 clinical studies, the CEREC system has allowed dentists to provide single-visit, all-ceramic restorations for more than 15 years — with more than six million restorations placed worldwide.

GENDEX announces a new high-resolution sensor with diagnostic image quality comparable to film. This, combined with a special amorphous carbon screen, provides excellent transmission of information without added thickness. The GX-S provides four times the number of pixels as a standard sensor for the best perception of diagnostic detail. Unlike other sensors, the sensor is always "live" and automatically detects the radiation and acquires the image. It is supplied with the VixWin imaging software, which provides numerous image treatments. IntraFlow anesthesia delivery system

IntraFlow greatly simplifies the intraosseous anesthesia technique. This patented new system is suitable for application in two-thirds of everyday dental procedures. Dentists and patients express a high level of satisfaction with increased patient comfort, reduced anxiety, and significant time savings. Since anesthesia is immediate, procedures can begin immediately. IntraFlow saves between 10 and 12 minutes of chair time per patient.

Treatment also can be completed in multiple quadrants during a single office visit. It provides immediate comfort without the side effects associated with traditional block anesthesia, such as lingering numbness to the jaw, lips, tongue, and cheek.

The heart of the IntraFlow system is a low-speed, pneumatic handpiece that is compatible with standard operatory equipment. The handpiece holds a disposable transfuser and perforator, which delivers anesthetic in a combined process that includes perforation of the cortical plate, infusion, and withdraw, all using the same perforator.

The IntraFlow anesthesia delivery system is sold exclusively by Patterson Dental Supply, Inc.

LumaCool™ light whitens without heat

LumaLite's LumaCool™ whitening system whitens teeth without heat and minimizes the time required for each procedure. Its wavelength-specific light delivery represents the next generation in tooth-whitening technology — no bulb replacements, and a hands-free optical sensor. A heads-up display allows the operator and patient to see the remaining procedure time.

To use, the clinician applies whitening gel to the teeth, positions the adjustable light head, and turns the light on. The light stays cool throughout the procedure, so patients remain comfortable. If GentleBright™ light-activated whitener is used, no gingival protection is required.

The LumaCool can be moved between multiple operatories for maximum convenience and cost effectiveness.
