Crosstex International has introduced RAPICIDE OPA/28, an ortho-phthalaldehyde (OPA)-based high-level disinfectant for the reprocessing of heat-sensitive semi-critical devices. This is an FDA, 510K cleared product that has a reuse period of 28 days, twice the reuse life of all other OPA-based high-level disinfectants available on the market with the fastest disinfection time – 10 minutes at room temperature. Unlike Glutaraldehydes, which are recognized causes of occupational asthma and skin irritations, RAPICIDE OPA/28 has only .55% of the active ingredient, so it causes less irritation to the eyes, nose, and throat.
