The Sclar Center for Empowered Dental Implant Learning in Miami offers a new and unique surgical training experience for specialists and general dentists. Anthony G. Sclar, DMD, noted oral surgeon and author of the textbook "Soft Tissue and Esthetic Considerations in Implant Therapy" (Quintessence), has designed a unique training facility and course series for specialists and general dentists who want an extremely high level of didactic knowledge and to master the psychomotor skills required to successfully perform implant surgery and adjunctive procedures on their patients.

“Our mission is to provide dental implant surgery training that empowers dental professionals to offer predictable dental implant therapy for their patients. They can enter the program at whichever level fits best and then advance with us in a congruent manner,” says Dr. Sclar.

In each three-day course, participants have the opportunity to observe and ask Dr. Sclar questions as he performs live surgery demonstrations. Dr. Sclar then uses pioneering audiovisual technology to immediately review and annotate the video footage, underscoring the critical points of the procedures and thereby providing participants with a profound understanding of procedural nuances. Next, under Dr. Sclar’s personalized instruction, participants perform the surgical procedures on mannequin models and/or cadaveric specimens in the high-tech simulation lab. Participants are granted post-course access to an extensive video surgery-learning library.

“The training of surgical assistants is a missing component of most other implant programs,” says Dr. Sclar. "At The Sclar Center, the surgical assistant attends with the doctor and receives practical training. Every class is intentionally small to ensure personalized attention. We take a very personal interest in our students and make sure they get the most out of each experience with us.”

Participants may select a variety of dental implant surgery and immersion courses focused on soft and hard tissue grafting techniques, as well as achieving optimal esthetics and avoiding and managing dental implant complications. The Sclar Center offers hands-on courses in fundamental to advanced dental implant surgery, including same-day immediate function; soft tissue grafting and periodontal plastic surgery; intraoral bone grafting, sinus lift bone grafting, and hard tissue implant site development; how to achieve predictable esthetic outcomes; and how to identify and avoid complications before they occur, as well as manage a broad range of complications.
The curriculum integrates evidence-based scientific information, practical clinical instruction, and essential practice management information. The Sclar Center’s cutting-edge technology includes a surgical-restorative “super suite” that functions as a High Definition (HD), intraoral film studio and a hi-tech simulation lab for hands-on training. The presentation hall is designed for HD projection and ultra comfort.
