ROCK HILL, South Carolina--KOMET USA has introduced a new laboratory bur kit designed for the creation of shapes and textures in ceramic restorations that best mimic the design of natural teeth. Developed in conjunction with Olivier Tric of Elmhurst, Ill., the Olivier Tric Diamond Ceramic Series Kit contains 11 rotary instruments and was designed to create ceramic restorations. The primary reason for the inclusion of diamonds and KOMET's specialty carbide (H97) is for their ability to create proper shapes and textures on strong ceramic materials. This makes the restorations to appear like natural teeth. Designed with a three-edged wedge, the H97.104.010 is for the fine trimming of ceramic occlusal surfaces. The diamond instruments have a uniform coating of quality diamonds. This helps ensure the user efficient performance for precise results. The 801.104.018 diamond with a round head is included along with the following instruments: a 847.104.014 (flat-end taper) and 850.104.016,023,025 (long round-end tapers), 860.104.012 (short flame), 862.104.018 (flame), and 863,8863.104.012 (long flames). A 911H.104.180 double-sided diamond disc (3 mm of diamond coating) is designed for the separating and contouring of the ceramic material. Tric is a respected lecturer and educator who teaches hands-on courses to dentists and technicians throughout the world. He currently operates Olivier Tric Dental Laboratory and Educational Center in the Chicago suburb of Elmhurst.
