E-Prop designed to hold a disposable evacuation tip.

MT. PLEASANT, South Carolina--The many tasks of a dental hygienist often leave them wishing for a third hand.

Diatech hopes to solve this problem by introducing the E-Prop--an oral mouth prop designed to hold a disposable evacuation tip.

Created by dental hygienist, Becki Thompson, of Omaha, Neb., the E-Prop is adjustable and can be positioned to eliminate liquids from pooling in the patient's mouth.

"I was looking for an assistant, and since we only have two hands, I created the E-Prop," Thompson said. "It is the dental hygienist's favored assistant."

The E-Prop was developed to save time and money by providing a cost-effective solution to traditional hand held liquid evacuation. The patent pending design allows for a standard disposable evacuation tip to be placed in the mouth prop reducing the need for labor intensive hand held suction.

The E-Prop is an FDA registered Class 1 medical device and is made using FDA- approved plastics that contain no latex. The E-Prop is autoclavable and will stand repeated use.

Diatech plans to introduce the E-Prop at the California Dental Association Fall Scientific Session Sept 12-14.
