Kettenbach LP introduces rest of Panasil® line of impression materials

May 7, 2009
New Panasil® materials include Panasil® initial contact fast set and its Panasil® heavy tray material in a 50-mL cartridge.

In February 2009, Kettenbach LP launched its Panasil® initial contact low viscosity impression material during the Chicago Dental Society's Midwinter Meeting. The company is now introducing the rest of its Panasil® materials including Panasil® initial contact fast set and its Panasil® heavy tray material in a 50-mL cartridge.

In addition to the aforementioned Panasil® initial contact and Panasil® tray material, Kettenbach LP's complete line of Panasil® products also include Panasil® monophase medium, Panasil® binetics putty and Panasil® putty materials.

Panasil® initial contact
Panasil® initial contact (Shore Hardness A48) has a unique initial hydrophilicity, allowing the material to immediately overcome any remaining moisture in the mouth. An exact impression of the prepared margin is assured, even in situations with a deep sulcus or a moist environment. Panasil® initial contact is also highly thixotropic with outstanding flow properties. The material, available in a 50-mL cartridge, can ideally be combined with all the other Panasil® materials and is available in three viscosities – X-light, light and regular. The time properties for the two versions are as follows:
-- Regular set: flexible working time (90 to 120 seconds); and a constant intraoral setting time (2 minutes)
-- Fast set: flexible working time (30 to 60 seconds); and a total set time of up to 3 minutes

Panasil® tray
Panasil® tray is a high viscosity material in fast (Shore Hardness A62), soft (Shore Hardness A55) and soft fast (Shore Hardness A55) versions of addition-curing preliminary impression material. It has user- and patient-friendly setting characteristics. Highly thixotropic, the pressure builds up quickly and is easy to remove from the mouth. Panasil® tray materials are available a 362-mL foil bag for Kettenbach's Plug & Press® dispenser and 50-mL cartridges. The time properties for the three versions are as follows:
-- Fast heavy: working time (1 minute, 20 seconds); intraoral setting time (2 minute)
-- Soft heavy: working time (2 minutes); intraoral setting time (2 minutes)
-- Soft fast: working time (1 minute, 20 seconds); intraoral setting time (2 minutes)

Panasil® monophase medium
Panasil® monophase medium (Shore Hardness A58) is a hydrophilic medium viscosity impression material that offers significant advantages for taking transfer impressions. It has less distortion while the material is setting and retains the inner copings and frameworks firmly. During the application process, Panasil® monophase medium shows its favorable wetability at the first contact with moist surfaces. The material adapts perfectly around the preparations. Panasil® monophase medium comes in a 362-mL foil bag for Kettenbach's Plug & Press® dispenser and a 50-mL cartridge. The time properties of Panasil® monophase medium is as follows:
-- Total working time (2 minutes); intraoral setting time (2 minutes)

Panasil® binetics putty
Panasil® binetics putty has excellent elastic properties and is available in both soft (Shore Hardness A56) and fast (Shore Hardness A63) viscosities. It's the first putty to be made in a 362-mL foil bag designed for Kettenbach's Plug & Press® dispenser, allowing for exact dosage and reduced material usage; however it can also be used in most competitive dispensers. Without the need to manually knead the material, the Plug & Press® dispenser allows easy and hygienic mixing. The time properties for the two versions are as follows:
-- Soft: working time (2 minutes); intraoral setting time (3 minutes)
-- Fast: working time (1 minute, 30 seconds); intraoral setting time (2 minutes, 30 seconds)

Panasil® putty
Panasil® putty is an elastomeric impression material with excellent hydrophilic properties, dimensional accuracy, high tear strength and resistance to permanent deformation. With a non-sticky, supple texture, it has excellent resistance. Available in regular (Shore Hardness A66), soft (Shore Hardness A66) and fast (Shore Hardness A60) versions, Panasil® putty comes in a set of 2 × 450-mL jars totaling 900 mL. The time properties for the three versions are as follows:
-- Regular: working time (2 minutes); intraoral setting time (2 minutes)
-- Soft: working time (1 minute, 30 seconds); intraoral setting time (2 minutes)
-- Fast: working time (2 minutes); intraoral setting time (2 minutes)
