Isolite Systems to launch new mouthpiece

Feb. 25, 2009
Dryfield illuminator is a dental device that combines the functions of light, suction, and retraction into a single tool.

SANTA BARBARA, California--Isolite Systems, maker of the Isolite dryfield illuminator, will launch a new mouthpiece for the system at the 2009 Chicago Dental Society's Midwinter Meeting in Chicago.

The Isolite dryfield illuminator is a dental device that combines the functions of light, suction, and retraction into a single tool.

With the addition of the new Medium DV mouthpiece to its product line-up, Isolite Systems now makes available five mouthpieces that are designed to fit patients varying in size.

The new shape and design of the Medium DV mouthpiece allows for more complete tongue retraction and a better fit in a patient's mouth. Its
expanded cheek shield shape provides improved suction that goes deeper into
the vestibule.

The new design also provides for additional suction capacity within the bite block itself, assuring saliva does not pool behind the mouthpiece.

"This new mouthpiece has been in development for more than a year, and we
are proud to introduce it to the dental market during the Midwinter meeting," said Sandi Hirsch, general manager of Isolite Systems.

"Even though dentists praise the isolation they are currently achieving with our regular Medium mouthpiece, the new Medium DV mouthpiece will make the working field brighter and drier for all dental professionals, making their procedures a lot easier to manage. It will also address the need for those situations when patients are in between a standard medium- or large-size mouthpiece," Hirsch added.

Dennis J. Fasbinder, DDS, clinical professor at the University of Michigan's
School of Dentistry, tested Isolite's new Medium DV mouthpiece and provided
Isolite with feedback.

"I believe Isolite has a winner with the Medium DV mouthpiece," Dr. Fasbinder said. "I have quite a few patients that fall between the medium and large sizes. When using the medium mouthpieces, the tongue would occasionally slip under the retractor. With the new Medium DV design, there's enough extra retraction to address all these situations."

Douglas Schultz, DDS, of Corporate Lakes Dental in Overland Park, Kan., added
the Medium DV mouthpiece is an addition to the other Isolite mouthpieces he's currently using with his system.

"The Medium DV mouthpiece is a great revision on an already great product,"
Schultz said. "It provides better saliva control behind the mouthpiece, and
better isolation. What's even better about it is there's no need to use
additional cotton rolls in a patient's mouth."

The Medium DV mouthpiece will officially go on sale to customers March 1, 2009. It can be viewed, along with the Isolite dryfield illuminator and entire mouthpiece line from Feb. 27-March 1, 2009, at the Chicago Midwinter Meeting, which will be held at the McCormick Place Lakeside Center.

Isolite Systems will exhibit at Booth #1042 at the meeting.
