OptraPol ...
As composite restoration materials and properties have greatly improved, so has the ability to finish their surfaces. Enter OptraPol from Ivoclar, a one-step polisher and surface finisher that is to be used on direct composites. Each kit contains four types of polishers: point, small point, cup, and disc. These polishers create a glossy finish and can be sterilized. Consequently, they can be used multiple times - a cost reducer. I particularly like the small point for occlusal detail and fine areas. Protect Desensitizer ...
When long-lasting relief from tooth sensitivity is desired between recare visits or after scaling procedures, a triple-action varnish may be indicated. Offered by Sunstar Butler, Protect Desensitizer is a solution supplied as a liquid 4 g. bottle, complete with precoated application sticks that work together to activate the desensitizer. Protect, once mixed on the supplied pad, is placed on exposed root surfaces (avoid gingival contact) and rubbed gently over the treatment area. Allow treated site to air-dry for 10 seconds to complete the application process (no light-curing necessary). Learn more at www.jbutler.com.

L.E. Demetron II Curing Light...
WOW is what I said the first time I used this light! Kerr has introduced a lightweight and balanced curing light that not only performs a true five-second cure, but has advanced the science of curing by utilizing periodic level shifting - a cool, continuous output intensity that shifts from a 1,200 mW/cm2 base to a peak of approximately 1,600 mW/cm2, all without overheating the pulp or the unit itself. I really like the rechargeable battery pack, quiet run, and built-in LED radiometer on the charger stand. Try it out. For additional information, visit www.KerrDental.com or call (800) KERR-123.
