Sirona Dental Systems introduces CEREC® Connect

CEREC Connect is the world’s first and only complete online dental communication platform that offers Web-based digital model transmission from the dental office directly to the lab. Bringing more than 20 years of Sirona’s CAD/CAM leadership, CEREC Connect is designed exclusively for CEREC and inLab users. It enables CEREC dentists to eliminate physical impressions by electronically transmitting a digitally scanned impression to the inLab laboratory of their choice.

While other digital impression-taking systems exist, Sirona now enables labs to fabricate digital restorations without the need for a conventional physical model. In the near future, Sirona plans to offer labs the ability to create a physical model from the CEREC digital impression. “Our plan is not to insist on model-less dentistry,” remarked Norbert Ulmer, Director of Laboratory CAD/CAM for Sirona. “As the sole provider of the model-less digital restoration process, the next step will be to offer laboratories both options, and let them decide on their own when they’re ready to transition to the digital method.” For more information, visit www.CEREC-Connect.com.

Septodont introduces “N’Durance” new composite chemistry

Septodont has introduced a truly innovative composite material unlike anything on the market for more than 30 years. N’Durance Composite utilizes Nano technology and proprietary Dimer Acid chemistry. “N’D” Conversion Technology has unique chemical qualities that create greater polymerization of the resin monomers while maintaining a low volumetric shrinkage. N’Durance composite demonstates how the right chemistry can make a noticeable difference in the look and function of composite restorations. Its micro-particle sized fillers enhance the physical properties in the area of strength, elasticity, and color reactivity.

With an unprecedented intraoral monomer conversion (final double bond conversion of 75 percent), no other material tested demonstrated such high conversion values. Contrary to traditional monomer conversion/shrinkage values, N’Durance maintains the high conversion rate while maintaining a low volumetric shrinkage. It is indicated in all classes of anterior and posterior direct restorations. For more information, call (800) 872-8305 or visit www.septodontusa.com.

Hemaseal & Cide is the top-rated desensitizer

Hemaseal & Cide, by Advantage Dental, Inc., is the top-rated desensitizer as evaluated by the world’s leading independent non-profit evaluation group. It was also evaluated as the “best” antimicrobial. Recent studies suggest it is your best insurance to maintain long-term dentin bonds with self-etch and total etch systems. The action of 4% chlorhexidine with HEMA and water infuses or is drawn into the bond zone like no other product. No other product will rehydrate the bond zone better. As it combines with your adhesive of choice or cement, it will provide no-excuse excellence for you and your patient under all restorations.

A further benefit is its ability to allow you to treat extremely deep caries lesions, which previously might have been endo cases, with restorative procedures. Full details of all benefits, studies, evaluations, and testimony are available by request or online at advantagedentalinc.com. A technique article of deep caries treatment is available online or by request at (800) 388-6319.

BISCO features “color on command” technology

The D.T. LIGHT-POST ILLUSION from BISCO is the most advanced and esthetically pleasing post on the market. Its patented color-on-command technology makes it more appealing than ever. When the post is placed intraorally, the intrinsic color of the post disappears, allowing it to blend into the natural dentition. If retreatment or removal is ever required, the post will reappear on command by simply spraying cool water.

With flexural strength exceeding metal posts, its modulus of elasticity is similar to dentin. The low modulus reduces stress and eliminates root fractures. The post bonds to tooth structure and core build-up composite, while its design respects morphology and conserves tooth structure. Radiopaque and available in four sizes each with dual tapers, it accommodates many clinical situations. The posts come with a six-year limited warranty (U.S. only). To take advantage of an introductory offer, call BISCO at (800) 247-3368 or visit www.bisco.com for more information.

Greatly reduce anesthetic injection pain with VibraJect

The VibraJect Needle Accessory vibrates the needle at a high frequency during injections. This stimulates the nerve endings and blocks the transmission of the low-frequency pain-sensing nerve cell signals. Therefore, patients only sense vibrations, not the injection. The VibraJect adapts to most dental syringes, is easy to use, and available with rechargeable batteries.

Included in the VibraJect Kit is the VibraShield, which keeps hands and fingers away from needles during recapping to prevent needle sticks. The VibraJect is effective for all types of injections including block, intraligamental, and palatal. And, there’s no need to change your injection technique or syringes. Simply clip the VibraJect onto your syringe, turn it on, and deliver your injection. Order direct from ITL Dental by calling (800) 277-0073, e-mail [email protected], or visit www.itldental.com for more information.

New Carbide Crown Prepping Instruments from KOMET

The new Carbide Crown Prepping Instruments are superior to previous prepping instruments because they allow for precise and controlled tooth reduction while providing a finished surface comparable to that achieved by using a diamond finisher. Designed by Donald J. Alexander, DDS, of Jacksonville, Fla., the instruments provide quick, smooth, and chatter-free cut patterns. The residual finish allows for both gross and finish work to be accomplished using the same instrument. The flat-ended bur H837KRU — available in two sizes — is ideally designed for crown preparations that use a porcelain-butt margin. The round-ended bur H881U is more suited to create a chamfer for Alumina or Zirconia CAD/CAM copings. The cutting surface of both forms are the same as the H4MCL bur, which has a special D-toothing for quick and efficient cutting of crowns and bridges made of conventional metal alloys. Its cylindrical form lets you know the cutting depth, and the finish is so good that there is no need for an additional finishing instrument. Drug-free pain management

SockIt!™ Oral Pain Gel has undergone FDA review and release for management of pain of all oral wounds, lesions, and ulcers. It is applied directly to extraction sites and other affected areas. This unique product contains no drugs; it consists of 100 percent natural food (all plant) ingredients. It is nontoxic and gentle to the delicate cells involved in the wound healing process.

SockIt! gel adheres to and protects injured tissues from further irritation and contamination. The gel binds cations at the site of injury and inhibits their entry into nerve cells, preventing initiation of the pain impulse without causing the numb sensation characteristic of anesthetics. After professional application in the office, send it home with the patient to use as often as needed for safe, continuous pain management. Patients report postextraction pain relief with little or no reliance on prescription narcotics. SockIt! gel also inhibits growth of microbial pathogens implicated in dental caries, periodontitis, candidiasis, and infective endocarditis.

Several major insurance companies have reimbursed for SockIt! gel. For more information, call (800) 755-0044 or visit www.mcmerlindental.com.

Miltex N-Tralig® syringe is now 100 percent stainless steel

Miltex Dental, a division of Miltex, Inc., introduces a new and improved N-Tralig syringe. The very popular N-Tralig syringe has undergone some product improvements. The syringe is now being manufactured from high-quality German stainless steel. Because of new manufacturing techniques, Miltex now has the ability to make all parts of the N-Tralig syringe out of stainless steel, thus increasing the life expectancy of this great instrument.

The N-Tralig syringe delivers precisely 0.2 cc of anesthetic, has a positive ratchet action, and protects against the breakage of anesthesia cartridges. The slow infiltration of anesthetic during the Periodontal Ligament Injection (PDL injection), prevents dislodging the tooth and helps to numb that specific tooth. The 30-degree adapter handles even the most difficult-to-reach injections with ease. The syringe comes with a solid and a window barrel. Opalescence Boost Whitening System with PF from Ultradent

This in-office whitening system appeals to those patients who want whiter teeth immediately. Opalescence Boost offers immediate results with a simple syringe-to-syringe chemical activation that does not require a light. The syringe-to-syringe mixing ensures freshness and convenience. Research studies are available showing that chemical activation gives the highest quality in-office whitening. Tooth sensitivity is a common side effect of bleaching, but Ultradent Opalescence Boost controls sensitivity with PF desensitizing agents already in the whitening formula. Potassium Nitrate acts as an analgesic or anesthetic to prevent pain, while the fluoride acts primarily as a tubular blocker, plugging the holes and slowing down the fluid flow that causes sensitivity. Its PF technology works with two mechanisms of action — one affecting fluid flow and the other a direct effect on the nerve. The PF formula also protects the teeth with stronger enamel and caries prevention. Contact Ultradent at (800) 552-5512 or visit www.ultradent.com to order or for more information.
