3M ESPE's nanocomposite garners continued recognition for its patented use of nanotechnology.

Filtek Supreme Universal Restorative from 3M ESPE is a winner in the first Nanotech Briefs' Nano 50 Awards in the "Product" category.

Presented by Nanotech Briefs magazine, the Nano 50 Awards recognize the top 50 technologies, products and innovators that have significantly impacted the state of the art in nanotechnology. This latest award for the highly-recognized nanocomposite follows on the heels of back-to-back TEKNE Awards, in addition to the American Chemical Society's Great Lakes Regional Industrial Innovation Award.

The award is being presented on the heels of the introduction of Filtek™ Supreme Plus Universal Restorative and Filtek™ Supreme Plus Flowable Restorative the latest restorative offerings from 3M ESPE featuring the same patented nanotechnology formulation as the original composite.

Filtek Supreme universal restorative is a revolutionary dental material based on nanotechnology. It is the first universal composite that combines the strength of a hybrid with the beauty of a microfill. The easy-to-use Filtek Supreme universal restorative offers excellent strength and esthetics for all anterior and posterior restorations.

The nanosized filler particles (nanosized and nanoclusters) used in Filtek Supreme universal restorative achieve the superior polish and polish retention similar to a microfill, yet also provide the excellent handling, strength and wear properties that are needed for universal indications. The unique range of shades and opacities allows for excellent results with either single or multi-layer restorations. The restorative is available in 35 shades and four opacities dentin, enamel, body and translucent.

"We at 3M ESPE are thrilled to be recognized for the unique technology and performance capabilities demonstrated by Filtek Supreme universal restorative, which continues to provide an exceptional solution to dentists' restorative needs for easy handling, esthetic fulfillment, and long-term polish retention," said Tom Engels, division vice president, 3M ESPE.
