Dentist treats television mechanic on location for chipped tooth

Dr. Gary Glasband of Long Beach, Calif., uses CEREC system to restore damaged tooth for Craig Jull, a mechanic on Discovery Channel's Monster Garage show.

Craig Jull, a mechanic on the popular Discovery Channel Monster Garage television program, recently had his damaged tooth repaired by a dentist using Sirona CEREC, a chairside CAD/CAM restorative device.

Jull had damaged his tooth while taping an episode on remodeling a vehicle. He had lost control of the machinery and chipped off a part of his tooth enamel while trying to grind off the car's paint.

Dr. Gary Glasband of Long Beach, Calif., packed up his CEREC system and went on location to Discovery Channel's Monster Garage, during the filming of an episode. Using the CEREC system, the world's only system for the fabrication of all-ceramic dental restorations in one office visit, Dr. Glasband restored Jull's chipped tooth in the shop and got him back to work the same day.

"CEREC saved me a lot of money by not having to take the extra time off work. I've had fillings done and CEREC was easier. No one can tell which tooth I had replaced even under close inspection. It looks better than my original tooth ... that machine makes a better tooth than my body can! Any other way of making teeth is outdated; there is no substitute for the speed and ease of this technology," said an astonished Jull.

More than 9,000,000 CEREC restorations have been placed worldwide, and the number continues to increase. The Monster Garage segment titled "Open Road Racer" featuring the CEREC tooth restoration will air Aug. 15 at 6 p.m. EDT on the Discovery Channel.
