The Dental Office Manager Digest column “Dear Boss” is designed for office managers to be able to speak their minds by anonymously writing a “letter” to their boss. Send your letters to [email protected]. Depending on how many are received, your letter may take a while to appear in DOMD.
Dear Boss,
I am the only front office, back office, scheduler, receptionist, insurance guru, manager, etc. at this practice. I have been doing my job for years and—not patting my own back—I'm pretty good at it. If an appointment falls off for whatever reason, I work at filling that time slot. No question, I work hard.
Micromanaging is something I cannot tolerate, and you do it almost every minute of every day! You are constantly messaging me to do this, do that, move here, move there, even though I'm already on top of it. I kid you not, a patient will call in sick and within 30 seconds you are telling me what to do as if I didn’t already know. I am ahead of you. It's getting to the point that I just want to say to you: Shove it!
Ugh! I feel alone in this. Am I?
