The Dental Office Manager Digest column “Dear Boss” is designed for office managers to be able to speak their minds by anonymously writing a “letter” to their boss. Send your letters to [email protected]. Depending on how many are received, your letter may take a while to appear in DOMD.
Dear Boss:
I think I've finally had enough with your office and will now quickly retire from dentistry altogether. It’s not the same field it was when I started 39 years ago as an assistant. Not sure if COVID was the beginning of this bittersweet end, but I’m tired of the backstabbing and mistreatment from you and the other office staff. No one—including you—has any care or concern about their fellow teammates. Insurance companies are a nightmare and have only become worse over time. There are new rules every year and new ways to rip off the dentist and make my job more and more difficult.
More "Dear Boss":
- Dear Boss: It pays to treat your employees with respect
- Dear Boss: Thanks to your bratty son, I'm done
- Dear Boss: I don't live to work, I work to live
I have stood by you and your practice for too long only to be left empty-handed most times; no words of thank you or anything of that sort. The confusing new rules implemented by your demonic ways have made me hate dentistry. I wonder why I still stick around most of the time. My days are long in the office and I feel like I have no life outside of work. I’m too old to put up with the nonsense going on nowadays. You never gave me any health benefits, bonus, or a 401(k), and now what am I to do at my age?
Goodbye,
Anonymous
