The power to help a child is in the palm of your hands

Dec. 16, 2011

As a dental assistant, you witness the debilitating effects of tooth decay on your patients. When they visit your practice, you can help them. You and your fellow team members provide patients with treatments and valuable information about maintaining their oral health. They’re the lucky ones. Believe it or not, millions of children endure severe pain and embarrassment as the result of rampant pediatric dental disease. They lack the resources to obtain essential treatment and education to achieve good oral health. This holiday season, you can help prevent the unnecessary suffering of a child simply by sending a text message. The power to help a child lies in the palm of your hand -- your cell phone.

The next time you grab your phone to check your email, post your status, or do a little holiday shopping, send a text to give a child the gift of a smile. By texting the keyword SMILE to the number 20222 via a cell phone, a donation of $5 will be made to the National Children’s Oral Health Foundation: America’s Toothfairy. Note: A one-time donation of $5 will be added to your mobile phone bill or deducted from your prepaid balance. Donors must be 18 or older, and account holders (e.g., parents), must authorize all donations. By texting YES, the user agrees to the terms and conditions. All charges are billed by and payable to your mobile service provider. Service is available on most carriers.

Donations are collected for the benefit of National Children’s Oral Health Foundation by the Mobile Giving Foundation, and are subject to the terms found at www.hmgf.org/t.
