Welcome from the editor

Nov. 11, 2009

It’s beginning to look a lot like … time to get on a plane and head to the Big Apple for the Greater New York Dental Meeting. I have made my Thanksgiving weekend plans, including a lot of turkey and football on Thursday, early-morning shopping/elbow throwing on Friday morning (I know I’m not well, but I love getting up in the middle of the night to get in line for Black Friday), and then hopping on a flight Saturday morning to New York. Every year, it’s one of the best meetings of the year, and I have no doubt the 2009 version will rank right up there as well.

Speaking of GNYDM, I asked Dr. Robert Edwab and his staff to prepare a preview of what you’ll be seeing at the meeting. Their response is a good read with some interesting things scheduled for the show floor. I also asked the Dental Trade Alliance for their two cents on the meeting and you’ll also see their response in the article, which can be found by clicking here.

One of the “elephants in the corner” in the dental industry is the gray market. I recently asked The Dental Insider, my friend and a new contributor to Proofs, to pen an article on what he believes is the current state of this problem, and what if anything can be done. You’ll see what he says by clicking here.

As we’re hurtling toward 2010, it’s time to think about what the year will hold for you professionally. John Graham helps you get a leg up on the competition through his article that you can find by clicking here.

I hope to see you in New York, but even more than that, I hope that this Thanksgiving will be filled with family, food, and fun for each of you.
