Four individuals elected to Oral Health America's Board of Directors for 2011.

CHICAGO, Illinois--Oral Health America, a national nonprofit organization founded in 1955 with headquarters in Chicago, has welcomed four new members to its Board of Directors.

The four are:

Greg Blackmore, chief operating officer, North America, Midmark, joined Midmark Corporation in 2009. He runs the day-to-day aspects of Midmark’s North American operations. Midmark manufactures medical, dental, and veterinary health-care equipment. Prior to joining Midmark in 2009, Blackmore was senior vice president and group president, life sciences, for STERIS Corporation. He worked for General Electric from 1981-2004. Blackmore is also a board member for BioOhio, a nonprofit organization designed to build and accelerate bioscience industry, research, and education in Ohio. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Connecticut.

Dr. Caswell A. Evans is director of the National Oral Health Initiative within the office of the U.S. Surgeon General. In this role, he provides guidance and assistance to state and local initiatives responsive to Oral Health in America: A Report of the U.S. Surgeon General (2000), and to the subsequent National Call To Action (2003) report, which he directed and edited.

Elected to the Institute of Medicine, National Academy of Sciences, Dr. Evans is past president of the American Public Health Association and is the founder of its Faith Community Caucus. He has served on the board of the National Association of County and City Health Officials, is the immediate past president of the American Board of Dental Public Health, and serves as chair of the National Advisory Committee for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Pipeline grants awarded to dental schools. He also serves on the Board of Visitors for the National Museum of Dentistry in Baltimore. Dr. Evans received his DDS degree from Columbia University's School of Dental and Oral Surgery. He earned his master of public health from the University of Michigan School of Public Health.

Dr. Victor Rodriguez has owned a solo private dental practice in Houston since 2004 and has been a member of the Hispanic Dental Association since starting as a student member in 1994. He served as president of the organization in 2010, and has been involved in the association's leadership, nationally and locally, in multiple positions and committees for many years. Dr. Rodriguez is also active in numerous dental organizations, such as the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Texas Dental Association, and Greater Houston Dental Society. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his DDS dental degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center Houston Dental Branch.

Since 2000, Dr. George Tysowsky has served as vice president of technology for Ivoclar Vivadent., responsible for technical functions of North American operation and the successful development and management of key professional communication events. Dr. Tysowsky started with Ivoclar in 1985 as technical director for Vivadent/Ivoclar USA. He has also had an intramural private dental practice in Amherst, N.Y., since 1990 and serves as a clinical assistant professor at the School of Dentistry at State University of New York at Buffalo and an adjunct assistant professor at the Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, N.Y.

Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Tysowsky is active with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the American College of Prosthodontics Education Foundation, and the Center for Research and Education in Technology Evaluation. He obtained his Master's of Public Health and DDS degree from the University of Minnesota.
